Six earthquakes of magnitudes less than four degrees on the Richter scale were reported in Higuey and Mona in the last 18 hours, without causing damage to the hotel or urban areas, according to the Seismological Institute of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.
The last earthquake of 3.1, occurred at 9:06 pm northeast of Higuey with a depth of 33 kilometers, according to the report the analyst Juan Arias.
On Sunday afternoon at 1:10, there was another quake of 3.4 in the northeast of Higuey in the Atlantic Ocean.
Twenty minutes later, at 1:34, there was another earthquake of 3.4 in the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
Then, at 2:29 pm, there was another tremor of 3.1 degrees to a depth of 25 kilometers northeast of Higuey, according to the Seismological Institute Universitario.
Two minutes later, at 2:31, there was another earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Atlantic Ocean, 33 miles from Higuey.
The last earthquake of 3.3, occurred at 4:48 pm 24 kilometers from Punta Cana, Higuey.
According to reports from the Institute over the past three days, reported 28 earthquakes of less than 5 degrees on the Richter scale in the eastern region, without causing damage to buildings, but feeling some mild form of the population, according to reports the Seismological Institute of the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.
The 16 earthquakes occurred last Friday and Saturday.
Most of the earthquakes in the eastern region are caused by faults in the Caribbean and American.
The Caribbean is a tectonic plate of 3.2 million square kilometers with an impact on much of Central American countries.
The American dede extends Mexico, Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean in the east affecting the country.
